Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour 2012 comes to SA

The local leg of the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour 2012 will begin on Friday, 26 October, 2012, and brings to our shores films on mountain culture featuring mountain-based adventures, sportsmanship and scenery.

The nine short films were selected from hundreds of entries received by the Banff Centre in Canada from mountain-based extreme sport and adventure filmmakers across the globe. Films featured in the 2012 lineup include: All.I.Can: The Short Cut, Towers of the Ennedi, Frontier, Reel Rock: Origins - Obe & Ashima, White Water Grand Prix, C.A.R.C.A, From the Inside Out, Concrete Dreams and Reel Rock: Sketchy Andy.

"As South Africa's favourite outdoor store we first brought the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour to South Africa in 2006. Since then the film festival has become incredibly popular with South Africans and it is always with excitement and anticipation that we present the lineup to the public," explained Cape Union Mart's marketing director, Evan Torrance.

Adrenaline-packed antics

"This year's adrenaline-packed antics feature, amongst others, extreme snow sports, rock climbing, kayaking, mountain biking, bouldering and slacklining - all brought to life on the big screen. It's an epic two-hour-long adventure-filled ride, sure to be a hit with thrill seekers, film fundis and all those who want to experience the rush of exhilarating freedom," said Torrance.

The films are presented as a single screening once daily from 26 October to 1 November at select Ster-Kinekor cinemas across the country.
