Frost & Sullivan to host African Best Practices Awards Banquet

CAPE TOWN: Frost & Sullivan will host its annual African Excellence Awards Banquet at the Hilton Hotel, Sandton, South Africa on 25 November 2010. The banquet recognises organisations in sub-Saharan Africa in light of their developments, performances and successes.

"Frost & Sullivan's Best Practices Awards recognise companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service and strategic product development," says Africa Consulting director Hendrik Malan.

"Our awards programme is globally recognised for identifying industry leaders, and we bring those same high standards to the African programme."

    Recognising positive impacts

The evening aims to celebrate the positive impact that the products and services offered by these companies are making across a range of markets in sub-Saharan Africa, including energy, healthcare, ICT, industrial automation and chemicals. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis, and extensive secondary research in order to identify best practices in the industry.

Keynote address - Nico Stolz, TSB Sugar

The keynote address for the banquet will be delivered by Nico Stolz, TSB Sugar's ethanol and energy specialist. Stolz's presentation will highlight the innovative processes utilised in the sugar industry, specifically referring to energy generation and the opportunities to incorporate renewable energy from waste, within this dynamic and growing industry.

He will further discuss some of the complexities and positive outcomes of waste to energy generation as experienced first hand by TSB Sugar.

"Even though companies have experience challenging economic conditions, 2010 has been a challenging year, we have continued to see growth and excellent performance from a number of outstanding companies in Africa," says Malan.

"It's an honour for us to highlight these achievements and recognise the companies that are demonstrating best practices in this environment."
