IP Africa Expo postponed to 2010

Specialised Exhibitions and Imago Communications, joint organisers of IP Africa Expo, have announced the postponement of the event that was due to run in September until 2010. Imago managing director Hugh Keeble say the event has undoubtedly captured the imagination of the South African IT market, as the support from the vendor community for an industry forum with this content and format has been unanimous. “Huawei Technologies, Intel Corporation SA, Novell South Africa, Siemens Enterprise Communications, Sun Microsystems, Telkom, Barlow Communications and VMware had all pledged their commitment to the event for this year's exhibition and conference.”

“Specialised and Imago will only stage events if we believe, beyond doubt, that we can deliver the audience we have promised our visitors and exhibitors alike. This show, like many other businesses, has been affected by the economic downturn,” adds Specialised Exhibitions managing director Gary Corin.

“We feel, that in the interests of all parties concerned, that we postpone the event for 2009 and re-launch in 2010. We also believe by then that the ill-winds of the economic downturn will have passed, South Africa will be benefitting from the post-World Cup boost and that the IT market will generally be more positive in its outlook, meaning that we can run an event where real business will be done.”

Specialised and Imago plan to announce dates for the 2010 the event in within the next month.
